Kansas City, Missouri

Partners: Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and Grayson Capital

Design: Pendulum, Multistudio and Draw

Asset Type: Museum | Hotel | Multifamily

To begin: Phase I (March 2025)

The District

In partnership with America’s only National Negro Leagues Baseball Museum (“NLBM”), the partnership plans to develop and build a new Negro Leagues Baseball Museum development district. This district will be anchored by a new NLBM museum, multi-family, hotel, dining and retail development.

Museum

In honor of the extraordinary heroes of the Negro Leagues, the players, owners and fans, the district will build a new two-story, 30,000 square feet museum with outdoor street level courtyard and will be adjacent to the historic Paseo YMCA (which is now the Buck O’Neil Education and Research Center); where the National Negro Leagues was created in 1920. The museum visitors will have access to 30,000 square feet of enhanced exhibits, galleries, and tech-enabled displays.

Hotel

The development of the full-service hotel will serve as the official hotel of the National Negro Leagues Baseball Museum. The hotel will feature 80 rooms, conference, meeting and event space. Additionally, the hotel will include dining options and ground floor bar, roof-top bar and retail space.

Multifamily

The NLBM development district will also include a new 150-unit mid-rise, multi-family development. This premier housing development will consist of 150 luxury apartments, retail and highly desired amenities.

The naming of the development will pay homage to the Negro Leagues.
